This handsome die cast 1:43 scale Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 by Corgi is the model raced by Colin McRae in the 1990 RAC Rally. Colin McRae Motorsport Ltd & Corgi have teamed up to produce this 1:43 scale die-cast replica model as a lasting memorial to Colin McRae MBE.
McRae’s first RAC rally in a truly competitive four-wheel-drive car, the Sapphire Cosworth modelled here, provided great drama but finally produced a fine sixth place.  McRae clipped a gatepost in Chatsworth, which bent the doors and suspension, and this was followed by an incident in Yorkshire which saw the mechanics ‘borrowing’ the sliding bolt from a farm gate in order to keep one of the doors shut.  The head gasket then blew and was changed by the mechanics from RED in double quick time.  McRae and Ringer then repaid the mechanics’ effort by putting in a series of top three stage times to claim a well deserved sixth. Measuring approx. 10cm long, 4cm tall and 4cm wide and presented in an attractive gift box, this special edition gift is sure to bring a smile to the face of any fast Ford or McRae fan.
